Education minister reaffirms commitment to teachers training

Luanda - Improving school management and quality of teaching staff were mentioned Monday as priorities by minister of Education, Maria Cândida Pereira Teixeira.

The official was speaking at the portfolios handover ceremony from her predecessor  minister, Pinda Simão.

She considered the teachers main author for teaching quality who will be the main impact on the Ministry.

Cândida Teixeira also stressed the need to deal with school management and the fight against illiteracy.

According to her, the improving of social, economic and health conditions in the country will necessarily entail the education of the population.

The minister also pointed out the increase in the number of children in the education system, in order to reduce the illiteracy rate.

The official said people with some knowledge of literacy will be able to better understand the phenomena of the nature.

The official also pointed to huge challenges that lie ahead, taking into account the guidance of the President of the Republic.

In turn, the outgoing minister, Pinda Simão, said that he was leaving the post with the feeling of duty fulfilled.

According to him, the task involving the education sector is extensive and a process.

In a meeting with teachers and health technicians, the head of State João Lourenço assured that he would work for an education accessible to all, demanding, competitive and of better quality.
