Minister calls for strictness in access to higher education

Soyo - Angola's minister of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation Maria do Rosário Sambo Tuesday in Soyo, northern Zaire province, called on universities for more strictness in the admission of new students in this subsystem of education in the country.

The appeal came during a delivery diploma ceremony for 151 new graduates in the courses of Pedagogy, Mathematics and Engineering of the Higher Polytechnic School of Zaire.

The minister described the training and qualification of human resources as crucial for the country development in various domains.

According to her,  the growth of the student population in higher education has become an unavoidable reality in the country.

She stressed that the fact does not restrict to the number of students who enter the subsystem of education every year.

"Universities must excel in the selection of students for higher education, combating all harmful practices," she reiterated.

The minister considered university education one of the priorities of the Angolan Executive.

The minister stressed the higher education’s role in the preparation and training of human resources for the country's challenges.

The province of Zaire has two Polytechnic High Schools based in Mbanza Kongo and Soyo.

The institutions are attached to the "11 de Novembro" University, headquartered in northern Cabinda province.
