Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 2019 academic year, held in Moçâmedes City, Adolfo Alves da Silva said that those institutions should not only focus on the teaching of scientific research, but also on educational policies, stating that one of the challenges is to change the teaching and learning process, with the introduction of new technologies, through teachers training.

"Our graduates have to be trained through the tools that the teaching and learning processes provide for the so-called 21st century skills. They must be able to develop effective communication, work with a sense of collaboration, innovate and have critical thinking, besides being able to indicate, through  digitalization, the processes of  globalization, democratization of the knowledge and the challenges of top research ", he said.

With this system of education, according to the secretary of State, higher education institutions will contribute to the training of professionals capable of developing learning and with innovative students with solutions and in many cases able to lead work teams in their areas of graduation.

"We count on the collaboration of the teachers who are available for the crucial position that is imposed through the curricular perspectives of the country, trying to identify in the first place the profile of professionals who respond to these challenges," he added.

He also underscored the holding of the first national conference on University Expansion that will address aspects related to the organization, control and management of educational institutions in Angola.

The conference, which is to be held under the motto "For a university expansion based on sustainable human development", will cover several panels, such as "Policies and strategies on the quality of university expansion management for sustainable human development” and “Curricular organization of university expansion action: trends, good practices and possibilities ", among other subjects.
