The achievement of this objective is the result of the cooperation with the University of Porto (Portugual) established four years ago.
The centre’s coordinator, Fernanda Laje, said the project is currently being publicised to attract the funders.
The existing collection of birds in CIBEA is the third largest in Africa, after two located in South Africa, with 45,000 specimens and 670 different species.
The Center for Studies on Biodiversity and Environmental Education has a herbarium of 16,000 registered plants and others still to be registered.
In turn, the ISCED general director, José Luis Alexandre, spoke of the need of support by the University of Porto to train specialists in the areas of biodiversity, statistics, cataloging, classification, plant and animal nomenclature for the institution.
The institution signed various agreements with the universities of Aveiro, Évora and Porto.
