School textbooks already distributed countrywide

Luanda - The Ministry of Education (MED) had fulfilled up to now the first phase of the free distributions of primary school textbooks in all 18 provinces, estimated at 33 percent.

To meet the sector's needs, the MED produced in the current year 37.5 million primary school textbooks that are being distributed to public and private education institutions.

The information was given by the National Institute of Investigation and Education Development (INIDE), Manuel Afonso when assessing the process of distributing the primary school textbooks in the country.

For that were created two logistics centers: Benguela and Luanda for the reception, storage and distribution to the provinces.

Therefore, partial available data points that the southern province of Benguela received 3,614,000, Bié 2,977,975 while Cunene received 80,275 textbooks. Cuanza Sul 683.475 books, Huambo 1.947.400, Huíla 5.241.275  and  Namibe 146.575. Uíge 443,450, Cabinda 46,800, Cuanza Norte 12,775, while Malanje up to now received 500,824, Lunda Sul 36,383. Bengo 77.025 and Cuando Cubango 173.250 books.

Meanwhile, the textbooks will be totally distributed until March this year. The Angolan Government has spent, for the textbooks production, about 16 billion Kwanzas.

The Ministry of Education controls six million primary school students in public and private schools.
