Classes in the various teaching subsystems were suspended in March due to the outbreak of the first case of Covid-19 in Angola.

According to the Minister of State and Head of the Civil House of the President of the Republic, Adão de Almeida, who was speaking at a press conference, teaching institutions are, however, subject to the creation of biosafety conditions.

Adão de Almeida pointed out, among the protection measures, the compulsory use of masks, testing of educational agents, social distancing and a ban on the use of public spaces in school institutions.

By the way, the Minister of Education, Luísa Grilo, advanced that the established schedule determines the restart in a phased and intercalated way, in alternate days.

With the classes divided into groups, in primary and cycle 1 classes will last 02h30, while in cycle II of secondary education 03h30 of duration, without the right to a break.

Thus, on the 5th  October they will start with university education and the 2nd cycle of secondary education, for students in the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th Grades.

On 19 October, 7th and 8th grade students, both still in the 2nd cycle of secondary education, enter the scene.

Classes in primary and 1st cycle start on 26 October.

According to the minister, the Ministry of Education (MED) had to adapt the curriculum to face the constraints created by the Covid-19 pandemic.
