Minister calls for valuing and preservation of monuments and sites

Luanda - Culture Minister Carolina Cerqueira, on Tuesday in Luanda called for more appreciation and preservation of monuments and sites in order to guarantee and perpetuate the collective memory of the nation.

Speaking to the press at the end of a visit to the Palacio de Ferro and the Casa da Cultura do Brazil / Angola, the official said that it is necessary to preserve, reconstruct and preserve these places because they mirror the identity of any people and nation.

Carolina Cerqueira said that the Ministry of Culture through the National Institute of Cultural property (INPC) has developed works for the inventory of all monuments and sites.
Regarding the current state of monuments and sites, the minister said she was aware that some are in a high degrading state.

Meanwhile, the ambassador of Brazil to Angola, Paulino Neto, said that it was imperative to preserve the monuments and sites because they constituted the collective memory of the peoples.

For the Brazilian diplomat, the cultural pillar is fundamental and has sought to emphasize, giving greater emphasis to the mobility of people from Brazil to Angola.
