This was said Tuesday in Rome by the minister of Culture, Carolina Cerqueira, during a visit to the Angolan diplomatic mission in the Italian capital.

Carolina Cerqueira was on her way back from Venice, where she inaugurated over the weekend the Angolan Pavilion at the 57th edition of the Arts Biennial hosting an exhibition on the “Historical Magnetic/Resonance Memory”.

The Centre of Documentation and Art Gallery of the Angolan Embassy in Italy is visited everyday by Angolan and Italian students and members of the public in general.

It hosts books and pieces of art, mostly by Angolan writers and artists, videos and scientific materials from the three UN agencies based in Rome (FAO, IFAD and WFP).

“This is an example of practical cultural diplomacy that we, as a ministerial cultural department, will value and provide support to make our culture to grow in Italian lands,” the minister wrote on the visitor’s book.

On the other hand, minister Cerqueira said the country’s participation in the event shows the State’s readiness to develop’ and promote a cultural diplomacy at all levels and an articulation among the various generations.

The minister was accompanied by the secretary of State for Foreign Affairs for Cooperation, Ângela Bragança and the ambassador to Italy Florêncio de Almeida.

Angola won the Golden Lion at the 55th Biennial of Venice of 2013, during its first participation.
