Carnival: Culture minister appeals for patriotism, creativity
Luanda - Angola's minister of Culture Carolina Cerqueira Friday called on the members of carnival groups to show patriotism and creativity in order to ensure the success of the event on February 10, 11 and 13.

The minister was speaking to the press at the end of a meeting with the leaders of the Carnival groups in Luanda, which discussed the situation of 2018 Edition.
Carolina Cerqueira highlighted the need for the agents of the Carnival, depending on the current situation of the country, to focus on the creative spirit to respond to dimension of the Angolan Culture.
Among the issues raised by the Carnival leaders, stress went to late arrival of the financial support to purchase the equipment.
According to Carolina Cerqueira, the Government is doing everything to create conditions for the groups.
Meanwhile, the minister appealed to the calm and commitment by everyone so that the 2018 Carnival runs in the spirit of brotherhood and solidarity.
The groups were also urged to timely search for sponsorship, not only waiting for the financial and material support from government, for better preparation in parades.
Carolina Cerqueira also announced the participation of groups from other provinces in the Luanda Carnival on a non-competitive basis.
During the meeting the leaders of the groups expressed concern about the delay in the distribution of the support.
They said that this factor can contribute to a poor presentation in the parades in the New Marginal.
The 2018 Edition is expected to gather 13 groups in class A, 16 in class B and 15 in class C (children).
