The commitment was expressed Thursday by the church's Bishop Afonso Nunes at the end of an audience with minister of Culture, Carolina Cerqueira.

Afonso Nunes told Angop that the church, as a partner of the State, is tasked with carrying out actions and conveying messages that contribute to the recovery of good practices within families, particularly among young people.

He said that the church should also promote activities that ensure the well-being of the communities.

According to him, the church will celebrate, on 25 February, the centenary of its founder, the prophet Simão Toco.

Various activities will mark the event, among which the inauguration of school in the Cidade Santa, northern Uige province.

In her turn, the Culture minister Carolina Cerqueira highlighted the Tocoist role in the Angolan social and religious mosaic.

The minister stressed the intervention of church in the community with the process of education, transmission of culture, social, citizenship and recovery of values.
