The statuette, which was handed over by the Angolan President, João Lourenço, to the AU Commission chief, Moussa Faki Mahamat, took place on the fringes of the 30th Ordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government.

Sculptured in bronze, the statuette weighs over 60 kilograms.

According to the Ministry of Culture this is a step given towards the internationalization of the Angolan culture in general, particularly of the cultural symbol of the country’s eastern region (Tchokwe ethnic group  region).

The statuette is one of the nicest Angolan artefacts and with a high cultural value, representing the Lunda-Tchokwe culture.

The Thinker shows an Elderly Man in a reflective position, thus expressing an intentional subjectivism since, in Angola, elderly people have a privileged status and represent wisdom, experience and knowledge about the secrets of life.

The artefact can be purchased in galleries, shops and crafts fairs in varied sizes.
