China wants to build heritage museum in Angola

Luanda - Chinese ambassador Cui Aimin announced Thursday, in Luanda, that his country is willing to help with the construction of a heritage museum in Angola, aimed at promoting and preserving the Angolan culture.

The diplomat was speaking to the press at the end of a meeting with the minister of Culture, Carolina Cerqueira, during which both sides reviewed the cooperation between the two States, particularly in the cultural field.

The Chinese ambassador said that the traditional Angolan culture is rich and diversified, hence the interest of China to help towards the effectiveness of such a project aiming at the dissemination of the national culture.

Regarding the current state of bilateral cooperation between Angola and China, Cui Aimin said that it has been done on the basis of openness and reciprocal learning, as well as the strengthening of ties of friendship between the two peoples.

The diplomat announced for the months of March and April the holding of the film week, photo exhibitions and other cultural activities, as part of the 35th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the two state.

On her side, the minister of Culture, Carolina Cerqueira, who welcomed the intention of China, appealed to China for collaboration also in terms of scholarships for the cultural sector and the support in infrastructures that can promote the municipalization of the Angolan culture.

During the meeting, the minister addressed an invitation to the Chinese diplomat to visit more national and regional museums in order to have a stronger contact with the national cultural heritage.
