Culture minister calls for inter-assistance in sector
Menongue - The boosting of cultural actions that can contribute to leverage cultural tourism in the south-eastern Cuando Cubango Province demands from the sector’s cadres commitment to teamwork, a spirit of inter-assistance and solidarity, said last Tuesday in Menongue City the incumbent Culture minister, Carolina Cerqueira.

According to the government official – who was speaking at a meeting with cadres of the sector in the ambit of a work visit to Cuando Cubango – only in unity and with a solidarity and patriotic spirit can the culture sector fulfil its objectives.
She went on to say that although there is a deficit in terms of cultural infrastructures in Cuando Cubango, the region can also focus on activities like tourism and excursions.
The minister seized the occasion to announce that some of the sector’s plans for the near future are the creation in Cuando Cubango of a museum, building of libraries, art schools and a cultural centre.
She said a joint work involving the Culture Ministry and the Cuando Cubango provincial government is to be conducted with a view to materialising some actions that can contribute to the divulging, valorisation and preservation of this region’s cultural traits.
Carolina Cerqueira also instructed the cadres of the sector to conduct a survey on the situation of ethnic minorities in Angola, with emphasis on the khoisan community, with a view to protecting and preserving their customs.
This Wednesday, the minister is scheduled to visit the Cuchi Municipality, hold a meeting with cultural agents and chieftains.
