Minister wants churches to work for social harmony
Menongue - Churches must strengthen and focus on social welfare, unity, harmony and education of the people to ensure social cohesion, peace and development of communities, the minister of Culture has said.

Carolina Cerqueira was speaking Tuesday during a meeting with recognised church leaders, on her working visit to the south-east province of Cuando Cubango.
According to the minister, education, vocational training, moral and civic education, deserve special attention from the church, whose mission is to convey messages of pacification of the spirits.
She also said that the churches should value the family, as it is the foundation for the development and affirmation of the national identity and identity traits of Angolan culture.
The minister also wants the Churches to ensure the promotion of the values of unity and order.
She said this way will help combat the evil actions that undermine the social welfare, peace, security and tranquility in communities.
The minister said that the youth should receive from the church patriotic messages, respect for civic values, neighbour and national symbols.
The director of the National Institute for Religious Affairs, Castro Maria, said that the churches must also work on the moralisation of society.
He added that the churches should bet on actions that can translate the true role of the church, combating practices that distort and disrupt the law.
During her three-day stay, the minister will meet with cultural agents and chieftains.
