Jury announces National Culture and Arts Prize winners Wednesday

Luanda - The jury of the National Prize for Culture and Arts presented on Monday in Luanda the results of the work developed since May this year for the selection of the winners in this edition, whose gala takes place on November 9.

During the meeting with Minister Carolina Cerqueira, in the presence of the Secretary of State for Culture, Maria da Piedade de Jesus, the chairperson of the jury, university professor Vatomene Kukanda, referred to the work of the team that culminated in the final list, whose winners will be known on Wednesday at a press conference.

Vatomene Kukanda highlighted the fact that the jury worked with some limitations due to the difficulties of traveling to the other provinces of the country, but despite that it fulfilled with zeal and rigor its work.

The minister expressed her satisfaction with the results presented in response to the wishes of the Angolan cultural community, taking into account the diversity of those included in this edition, as well as the observance of values such as reconciliation and national unity, social inclusion, respect for the various political sensitivities and the representativeness of the regions of the country.

The National Prize for Culture and Arts is awarded in the categories of literature, plastic arts, dance, music, theater, film and audiovisual, research in human and social sciences, popular cultural festivities and cultural journalism.
