The presentation ceremony was attended by the cultural attaché of the Angolan Embassy in Portugal, Luandino Carvalho, representing the minister of Culture, Carolina Cerqueira.
The jury will be composed by the ballet/dance teacher Irene Guerra Marques, the writer José Eduardo Agualusa and the journalist Carlos Ferreira.
At the time, Luandino Carvalho said that literary prizes are fundamental to encourage creators to produce works with higher quality and encourage the liking for writing.
"We hope that this initiative launched in Lisbon can be replicated in Angola, within the framework of the various cultural programmes that will take place in the country for the Peace Biennial, which will take place in Luanda this September with the participation of 14 African countries", he said.
He recognized the commitment of the Angolan Executive, through the Ministry of Culture, in the development and appreciation of the arts, in particular literature.
The cultural attaché stressed that the approval of the Patronage Law and its regulation could help the development of artistic initiatives and the promotion of culture in Angola, since tax incentives will be created for national and international patrons who support art and culture.
He emphasized the importance of literature in the process of affirmation of peoples, as well as in the preservation and dissemination of culture, habits and customs of the population.
During the event, a protocol was also signed for "Promoting Portuguese Language Company" between Camões IP and the DST group to assist the Portuguese Cultural Centre's library in Luanda.
Present at the ceremony were the secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Portugal, Teresa Ribeiro, the presidents of Camões I.P, Luís Ramos, and the DST group, José Teixeira, among other individuals.
