Portugal: Angolan film and documentary compete for FESTIn prize
Lisbon- The Angola-made short film “O mambo” and the documentary “Início do fim” are contesting for the prize in these categories in the annually held Festival of Itinerant Portuguese Language Cinema (FESTIn), which kicked off this Wednesday in Lisbon, Portugal.

Mambo is an action, comedy and mystery film filmed in the southern Huila Province, which depicts the odyssey lived by the actors, who see themselves entangled in persecutions and revelations, while chasing a special and magic suitcase, whose content brings up covetousness and greed of those having or seeking it.
The film was produced by the Angolan Nuno Barreto, who in 2014 founded the Huila-based film production “Filmes Sem Futuro” (FsF), whose aim is to conduct cinematic experiences with artists of Lubango city, theater groups, in particular.
Since the inauguration of the company, FsF has already made 10 short films, six video clips, 12 satire-humoristic sketches, and the movies produced by the firm participated in 35 International Festival Cinema all over the world.
Meanwhile, the film, documentary “Início do FIM” filmed by the Angolan Francisco Gonçalves, depicts the political landscape lived in Angola after the first elections held in the country in 1992 concerning the stance of the press and two main political forces (MPLA and UNITA).
Francisco Júnior Gonçalves is an independent film-maker, who works for Angola Public Television (TPA) for over 20 years.
