Minister highlights tourism potential in Mbanza Kongo

Mbanza Kongo - Angolan Tourism minister, Ângela Bragança, highlighted on Friday the tourism potential of the northern province of Zaire, particularly in the municipality of Mbanza Kongo, the chief town.

Ângela Bragança, speaking to the press at the end of the meeting of the National Multisectoral Commission for the Safeguarding of World Heritage, chaired by the Vice-President of the Republic, Bornito de Sousa, only lamented the fact that hotel capacity is limited, with two hotels, with a total of 340 rooms.

In spite of this embarrassment, he informed that the sector has already elaborated a definite itinerary to leverage the cultural tourism in Mbanza Kongo.

He added that a network will be created to strengthen the plan and thus attract tourists to Mbanza Kongo, giving life to it through the creation of different attractions capable of capitalizing with the public.

The present provincial capital of Zaire and former capital of the Kingdom of Kongo has numerous places of tourist interest and with rare exotic beauty.

One of the highly frequented areas is the tourist resort that stretches along the Tuco River, located 12 kilometers south of Mbanza Congo.

Along the road connecting Mbanza Congo and Tomboco locality there are also exuberant and exuberant landscapes interspersed with several streams of clear water and imposing rocks, highlighting the wonders and strength of nature.

But it is the caves of Nzau-Évua, located in the Nkiende commune, 62 kilometres from Mbanza Kongo that resides the pride of the town, a site also deemed the locality’s “presentation card”.
