Vice-President wants participative management of cultural heritage

Mbanza Kongo- The Vice-President of the Republic, Bornito de Sousa, defended Friday the need for a coordinated and integrated work between the ministerial departments and the community of Mbanza Kongo for the dynamization of the participative management between the public power and the civil society.

Bornito de Sousa, who was speaking at the opening ceremony of the first edition of the Kongo International Festival of Culture and Arts (FestiKongo), said that there should be also promoted the combination of efforts for local economic and social development through tourism , research, historical and anthropological research.

The vice president also defended promoting the artistic talent and creativity of cultural agents.

The Angolan Government, he said, continues to work on research and investigation on cultural heritage that can be inscribed on the World Heritage List.

Bornito de Sousa pointed out the cases of Cuito Cuanavale, the Rock Paintings of Tchitundu Hulo and the Kwanza Corridor.

Inserted in the festivities of Mbanza Kongo City Day, marked on 8 July, the FestiKongo consists of nine UNESCO recommendations, as part of the registration of the Historic Center of the capital of the former Kingdom of Kongo in the World Heritage list.
