Angolan writer Pepetela wins award in Portugal
Lisboa - The Angolan writer Pepetela won last Wednesday the Casino da Póvoa 2020 Literary Prize with the book "Sua Excelência de Corpo Presente".

The prize was awarded on the sidelines of the literary meeting dubbed “Correntes d'Escritas”, held in Póvoa de Varzim locality of Portugal, announced the organizers.
The contest jury decided to distinguish the work of the 78-year old writer, who was born in Angola’s centre-west Province of Benguela, due to his narrative stratagem and originality, awarding him the prize in total amount of 20,000 euros.
Pepetela replaces the Portuguese author Luís Quintais who won the 2019 edition of the same prize in the poetry category, the maximum reward of Correntes d'Escritas.
The jury comprised Ana Daniela Soares, Carlos Quiroga, Isabel Pires de Lima, Paula Mendes Coelho and Valter Hugo Mãe.
