Cabinda: Ex-FLEC Soldiers Join National Police

Cabinda, 11/12 - At least 95 ex-soldiers once belonging to the Angolas Cabinda Enclave Liberation Front (FLEC) were incorporated Monday into the National Police, during a ceremony held in the installations of the 11th Unit of the Riot Police (PIR), in the region.
The event is a part of the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding for Peace and Reconciliation in Cabinda province.
On the occasion, appointed were, among recently integrated into the corporation, the first Superintendents José Luemba Jimy, for the post of second District Commander of the National Police in Cabinda, and João Lelo, as second local Commander of the Border Police. Speaking at the ceremony, the provincial Commander of the National Police in Cabinda, Pedro Kandela, highlighted the importance of the event as part of the effort of pacification of the region.
The Commander appealed to the National Police staffs to engage in securing order and public tranquillity during Christmas and Yearend celebrations.
