Luanda - The Social Solidarity “LWINI” Fund will be called as from Wednesday Lwini Foundation, said the secretary of general council, Ana Maria Guimarães.
Ana Maria Guimarães announced this while speaking to the press during a visit paid by the organisation's members to the special education school in Rangel district, to mark the 12th anniversary of its creation.
According to her, the objective to change the Lwini Fund into foundation is to make it larger, taking into account the increase and development of its activities.
She explained that during the 12 year-period the foundation intervened, mainly, in the assistance of people with disabilities, victims of landmines and rural women.
Rehabilitation of schools, construction of training centres, as well as support to the government policy for repair of rural villages, under the programme for rural women, were also among the Lwini Fund's activities.
The Lwin Fund, created on June 30, 1998, is a private, non-profit and public interest institution, endowed with legal personality.
