Beijing – The Angolan new ambassador to China, João Garcia Bires, presented on Monday his credentials to the Chinese President, Hu Jintao, at Beijing’s People Palace.
João Garcia Bires, aged 67, replaces the diplomat João Manuel Bernardo that was appointed as the Angolan ambassador to Vietnam.
Poet and professor, graduated in international law in former Soviet Union, João Garcia Bires had already represented the Angolan diplomacy in Mozambique and Namibia.
Angola and China established diplomatic relations in 1983 and since then the bilateral cooperation was strengthened mainly after the end of armed conflict in Angola in 2002.
