Luanda– The assistance bodies of the president expressed on Wednesday in Luanda their deepest sorrow and regret at the passing away of the architect André Rodrigues Mingas Júnior "André Mingas" occurred on Tuesday in Brazil, victim of a disease.
In a message of condolence that reached the press it is written ‘’in such unfortunate occurrence we turn to his memory and present to the family our condolences’’.
Until very recently Andre Mingas served as Secretary of the President for Local Affairs.
Also a musician and composer, André Mingas died at the age of 61.
He is considered one of the artists of the golden generation of Angolan music along with Teta Lágrimas, Filipe Mukenga, Waldemar Bastos and others.
His first album, "Coisas da Vida" was released 30 years ago, but still continues to be one of the Angolan musical references, mixing local rhythms with jazz and rock. Among his best known works is the song "Mufete," considered one of the great successes of Angola.
Beside the music, André Mingas was an architect that devoted part of his life to politics having been appointed Consul of Angola in São Paulo, Brazil.
The musician was also deputy minister of Culture and during his term created the SADIA, Angolan society of Authors.
