Luanda – The ambassador of Palestine to Angola, Najah Al Rhman, on Sunday in Luanda said that the relations between both countries are “excellent and traditional” and guided by mutual friendship and solidarity.

Speaking to ANGOP, in regard to the ascension of Palestine to the category of Observer at the United Nations, the diplomat said that the relations with Angola tend to stimulate bilateral co-operation  with reciprocal interests and mutual advantages.

He reminded that both peoples forged their friendship in the time of national liberation struggle in Angola, with Palestine opening its diplomatic office a few years after the African country became independent.

He also said the Palestinian authorities will hold contacts with Angola with the aim of finding ways to strengthen the bilateral co-operation, adding that with this new UN position on Palestine it becomes more viable to broaden the relationship.

Najah Al Rhman assured that Palestine has enough experience and capacity to be one of the contributors to the development of Angola, having also praised this country’s potential in terms of natural resources.

He said this intention is also manifested on the congratulations message sent by president of the Palestinian National Authority, Mamoud Abbas, to the Angolan Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, on his election last August as president of Angola, as well as on the commemoration of one independence anniversary, marked on November 11.
