Menongue - The European Union's ambassador to Angola, Javier Puyol, announced on Sunday in the city of Kuito Kuanavale, eastern Kuando Kubango province, that twenty million Euros will be invested this year in the demining process nationally.
The EU ambassador, who is on a working visit in the region, made this announcement at the meeting with the municipal administrator of Kuito Kuanavale, Sara Luisa Mateus, where he explained the purpose of his visit to that jurisdiction, embodied in the find out of the
demining work that the British NGO "the Hallo Trust" is conducting in minefields.
Javier Puyol stated that he received information of the current situation of the demining in Kuando Kubango, with many areas still "contaminated" with several mines, due to the armed conflict that devastated that region of the country, but that this situation will be
minimized since it will soon be approved the proposed investment of over Euros 20 million.
For this purpose, he will encourage potential investors and donors within the sector of mining for proposals in coordination with the provincial government to cover the mined areas and to date have not been "attacked" by the Executive.
‘’The provinces visited by EU ambassador, after getting acquainted with the reality of each region, worth a certain priority as it has happened in Cabinda and Lunda Sul and Lunda Norte provinces, in the projects that we support.
