University students take to CANFEU cultural symbols of region

Lubango - The student delegation of the southern Huila province, who is participating in the National University Holidays Campus (CANFEU), which is expected to start on February 22 in the eastern Moxico province, takes as attractive aspects the rituals of cultures Nyaneka Humbi, Nganguela and Umbundo.

Speaking to on Tuesday to ANGOP, the secretary of MPLA youth wing (JMPLA) for higher education, Luís Paulo Ndala said that two plays were prepared, one that depicts the ritual of Pita Pondjo (a festive celebration held one month after the birth of a baby to contact this definitive new member with the outside world).

The other, according to the official, depicts the swearing-in ceremony of a king or a Chieftain who is being prepared in detail by young people, that this pair will also have the responsibility to show the economic potential, social and policies of Huila.

CANFEU is an annual event organized by JMPLA, so the last (12th edition) elapsed in southern Cunene province, under the motto "University Youth, voluntary, supportive and patriotic", with the participation of over a 1.500 students from the country’s 18 provinces and other youth associations.
