In an interview to ANGOP, the Angolan diplomat said that the good relations between the two countries’ peoples and statesmen date back to many years ago, adding that they can be deemed excellent.
“The relations between both countries are excellent. The co-operation with Zimbabwe is important because we are both in the southern Africa region and we have common interests which aim at the development of the two countries, as well socioeconomic and political stability and the promotion of peace in the region.
The diplomat further stated that Angola and Zimbabwe have also been working to come up with a broader bilateral co-operation in the economic domain, mainly in the agricultural sector.
“We have had contacts in this sector (agriculture) because Zimbabwe has a vast experience in this area and businesspeople in this field have been making contacts with a view to working together and creating a co-operation in this domain”, explained the diplomat.
He mentioned also other areas of interest in which both states are to co-operate, such as the railway sector, and specifically the Lobito corridor, having revealed that Zimbabwean businesspeople have been awaiting the conclusion of the works that will bring about the rail link between Angola and Zimbabwe.
“There is already an association of Zimbabwean and Angolan entrepreneurs called ZABA (Zimbabwe-Angola Business Association) in the ambit of the entrepreneurial interchange between both countries. Zimbabwean entrepreneurs have already visited our country, even went to Cuando Cubango Province, in the ambit of the Okavango-Zambeze (tourism) project, and also an ANIP (Angola’s National Private Investment Agency) team has equally visited Zimbabwe", clarified ambassador Pedro Hendrick Vaal Neto.
