During the short visit, the deputy minister was received by the Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, with whom he discussed the possibility of the Zambian government to import oil from the Republic of Angola.

At the end of the audience, he told the press that his country currently imports oil and its by-products from the Middle East at high cost and, in this context, Zambia as a neighbouring country of Angola "we find it more convenient to import this product from our neighbour".

The strengthening of relations between the two countries in the areas of road and railways infrastructures, which may facilitate the movement of these products, was also discussed.

The Zambian official, who visited the country for the first time, was very impressed with the level of development of Angola.
