USA: Angola and Namibia discuss co-operation
New York - Angola and Namibia intend to identify new co-operation areas and continue to work to strengthen parliamentary relations.

This is the commitment reached last Tuesday in New York, USA, between the Parliament Speakers of Angola and Namibia, respectively Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos and Peter H. Katjavivi, during a meeting held on the fringes of the Fourth World Conference of Parliament Speakers, which is set to end this Wednesday.
In the end of the meeting the Namibian Parliament Speaker, Peter H. Katjavivi, said to the press that he discussed with his Angolan counterpart the possibility for him to visit Angola with the aim of boosting the bilateral co-operation.
He said the two officials exchanged ideas on how strengthen the co-operation between the Parliaments of Namibia and Angola, stressing that Angola and Namibia are two brother countries.
Still on Tuesday, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos analysed with his counterpart from Kenya, Ekwee Ethuro, matters relating to the handover to Angola of the chair of the Parliamentary Forum of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR).
Ekwee Ethuro explained to the press, in the end of the meeting, that the two officials spoke about the current situation in the Great lakes region and the preparation of the ICGLR) gathering, set to happen in December, in Angola.
He then explained that the idea is that in the end of the December meeting Angola will take over the chair of the ICGLR.
On the same day, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos met with the Parliament Speaker of Serbia, Maja Gojkovic, with whom he analysed matters of bilateral interest.
Maja Gojkovic said to the press that the two officials looked into the current state of the bilateral relations, which they deemed positive, having revealed that he invited the Angolan Parliament Speaker to visit Serbia.
He then stressed that Angola has been helping Serbia and supporting it in international forums.
