This was said Wednesday in Harare by Angolan MP Pedro Sebastião, head of the National Group for the Regional Parliamentary Organisations.
According to him, the regional forum has been dominated by the English speaking countries.
Angola has submitted its candidacy for the SADC Parliamentary Forum chair, in replacement of Tanzania. DRC has quit the race.
“Angola has an added responsibility as the organisation is dominated by English speakers. We have the role of seeking, along with Mozambique and DRC, the desired equilibrium, in order for us to address the matters on equal terms,” he stated.
Pedro Sebastião explained that the region has only a forum, rather than a regional parliament, but there are steps towards a regional parliament.
