Zimbabwe: Angola takes up SADC-PF chair with multiple challenges
Harare- To ensure the regional integration issue, improve the flow of contribution of the member states and accelerate the transformation process of the regional parliamentary forum will be some of the challenges of the Angolan chair of SADC Parliamentary Forum during the two years of its tenure.

Angola won unanimously the elections to lead this parliamentary organ, 19 years after its creation and already pledged to work for a more regular organisation regarding the membership fees payment.
The lack or delay of membership fees payment was one of the biggest problems of the forum during the outgoing term.
According to the new Parliamentary Forum chairperson, Angolan Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, there are guarantees that the member states will regularize the situation of the membership fees as from the first quarter of 2017.
The 40th Plenary Assembly Session of the SADC Parliamentary Forum (SADC-PF) officially launched the SADC Model Law on Eradicating Child Marriage and Protecting those Already in Marriage, paving the way for the domestication of this groundbreaking law by SADC Member States.
The SADC-PF, which was created in 1997, is comprised of Angola, Mozambique, Namibia, The Seychelles, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Madagascar (currently suspended), Mauritania, Malawi, Lesotho, DR Congo and Botswana.
