Military effectives graduated in Huila

Lubango - At least 200 effectives from the Fifth Military Region (south) last Monday in Lubango City, southern Huila Province, were promoted to the ranks of First Sergeant, Second Sergeant and Third Sergeant, in the ambit of the 26th founding anniversary of the Angolan Army, to be marked on 17 December.

The ceremony - in which were graduated land forces effectives from the southern provinces of Huila, Namibe, Cunene and Cuando Cubango – was chaired by the second commander of the Fifth Military Region, general Nicolau Puna.

On the occasion, the general-officer called on the graduated troops to contribute to peace maintenance and defence of national sovereignty to dignify the branch of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) to which they belong.  

The Angolan Army was created on 17 December, 1992, as one of the branches of the FAA, in the ambit of the Peace Agreements for Angola, signed in Bicesse locality, Portugal, on 31 May, 1991.
