Lunda Norte: Over 1.000 refugees repatriated

Dundo - From 17 March to 7 April of this year, the authorities of the eastern Lunda Norte province carried out the voluntary repatriation of 1.150 DR Congo’s citizens, after staying in Angola as refugees, due to the military instability in that neighbouring country.

The information is contained in a statement released at the technical meeting of the multisectoral commission for the reception and support to refugees held on Tuesday in Dundo, under the guidance of the provincial governor of Lunda Norte, Ernesto Muangala.

According to the document, 407 women, 402 children and 321 men left the Chissanda (Angola) and Kamako (RDC) posts, at a time of stability in several Congolese locations, such as Tchindjindji, Kabuakhala and Sumbula (Kassai Central), adjacent to the municipality of Cambulo.

It adds that 25 sick people benefited from medical and medical assistance, with the hospitalization of seven other individuals in different hospitals in Tchitato municipality.
