Angola: All set for 2017 general elections

Luanda - The National Electoral Commission (CNE) considers that the basic and preliminary conditions for the 2017 General Election are created in the material, human, technical and financial sense.

The commission met on Friday in Luanda to address, among others, a formal request subscribed by the President of the Republic, José Eduardo dos Santos, for a CNE statement on the conditions for the General Elections of 2017, following constitutional and legal provisions, in particular the Organic Law on General Elections.

The plenary session was chaired by CNE chairperson André da Silva Neto.
According to a document sent to ANGOP, at the end of the meeting, the National Electoral Commission considers the conditions for the election created, based on the tasks developed so far and reflected in the 2017 CNE Activity Plan and the Institutional Timetable.

In order to obtain a favorable opinion, the Commission notes the provisional receipt of the Computer File of Legal age citizens (FICM), on 18 April of the current year, from the Ministry of Territorial Administration, as registration entity, and the delivery by the Government of Financing and additional credits for budget appropriations.
