Namibe: Vice-president hands over laptops to students

Moçamedes - The Angolan Vice-president, Manuel Vicente, on Monday handed over buses and laptops to students and coordinators of the course of the Namibe?s Academy of Fisheries and Sciences of the Sea, which he inaugurated on behalf of the President of the Republic, José Eduardo dos Santos.

Twenty-four students from this higher educational institution benefited from computers, thus responding to the need for quality and quantity of higher education staff so as to develop the country in the fisheries sector.

Manuel Vicente, accompanied by the State ministers and heads of the President’s Security and Civil Offices, Hélder Vieira Dias and Manuel da Cruz Neto, respectively, among other cabinet officials, the Vice-president, toured several infrastructure compartments, considered one of the largest in Africa.

The Academy has 25 classrooms and 30 laboratories. The lessons in the institution kicked off last May with 576 students.

The academy is the country’s first higher education institution of this type and provides courses in the areas of sailing, administration and management, naval mechanics, fish processing technology, aquaculture and marine resources.
