Addressing an opening 2018 Judicial Year Ceremony, the President said making, in a swift, efficient and impartial way, the domestic market more competitive to attract domestic and foreign private investment, is also part of government programme.

The government also intends to ensure access to justice and right of all citizens, regardless of their social or economic status, so that their rights are fully respected and protected.

According to him, the creation of the Constitutional Court in 2008 and the approval of the new Constitution in 2010 have made it possible to make the justice system an effective factor in promoting citizenship, peace and social cohesion and economic development.

João lourenço set as one of the priorities of his mandate, the fight against corruption, nepotism and impunity.

The president assured that the Executive has taken some measures that, although important, still seem insufficient.

According to him, these measures clearly indicate the path to follow, not only by the public servants, but also by the society in general.

The President said that his government took the initiative to propose the approval of the law on repatriation of funds illegally held abroad, in order to spur the development of the country.

The event was held under the motto "Dignifying judiciary and independent, impartial and swift justice".

Attended the meeting National Assembly Speaker Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, Supreme Court chiefs justice Rui Ferreira, Constitutional Court Manuel Aragão.

Attorney General Hélder Pitta Grós, and the chairperson of Angolan Bar Association (OAA) Luís Paulo Monteiro Marques, also joined the meeting.
