Namibe: Police commander backs new road safety measures
Moçâmedes - The commander of the south-west Namibe province of National Police Commissar Alberto Mendes defended the need to implement road safety measures, in order to avoid accidents and robberies that in recent days have been worrying locals.

The commander was speaking at a meeting with officials and representatives from different road transport associations, based in Namibe.
He said that road safety is a key issue in the Angolan government's political agenda, in defence of human life, the physical integrity of the citizen and property.
The high ranking police officer put at 2,019 the road accidents recorded since 2017, which led to 39 deaths, 220 injured, with material damages estimated at more than one million kwanzas.
"We need to take action to reverse the situation. Therefore, we have to combine efforts, because the road accidents is not only a concern of the State, but of the entire society," he said.
