The official clarified that it is up to National Assembly to indicate, choose and release the municipalities that will benefit from the process in the first phase.
The minister was speaking at the lecture held in southern Cunene province on "The Implementation of Local Authorities and Local Government in Angola".
Adão de Almeida stated that under the law only the Parliament is entitled to this purpose.
"There is information circulating that indicate between 36 to 37 municipalities chosen for the local authorities, which is quite false and groundless," he said.
In February this year, the chairperson of the State Administration and Local Power Committee of the National Assembly, Vigilio Tyova, said that the National Assembly would set the municipalities and the criteria for the implementation of the process.
"Of the country's 164 municipalities, only a few will have the local authorities. It will be the municipal legislative package to determine the conditions and the assumptions in which a municipality can benefit from the local power," the official noted.
Speaking at the VI Higher Youth Council, Adão de Almeida guaranteed that a public consultation is underway in the country on the implementation of municipalities and local power.
