Angola: Ruling MPLA party presents new leader
Luanda - The new President of the Party MPLA, João Lourenço, will be publicly presented to the country and the world, this Saturday in Luanda, at 02:10 pm.

João Lourenço takes over MPLA leadership
Also President of the Republic of Angola, João Lourenço is taking over José Eduardo dos Santos, who has been at the helm of the political organisation since September 1979, after the death of the first president Agostinho Neto.
João Lourenço is being elected at the party's 6th Congress taking place this Saturday in Luanda.
Addressing an opening ceremony, the current leader José Eduardo dos Santos focused on the conquest and preservation of peace in Angola.
He also stressed the achievement of national reconstruction, after decades of destruction that brought the country at standstill.
High on the agenda of the event will be the presentation of the president-elect João Lourenço at 02:10 pm.
João Lourenço is expected to close the event with focus on the guidelines of the programme at the party and Estate level.
