Head of State returns home

Luanda - The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, returned to the country last Wednesday from Beijing, where he participated in the Third Forum on China-Africa Co-operation (FOCAC), which happened on 03-04 September.

President João Lourenço returns home after attending China-Africa summit

On his arrival in Luanda, the Head of State, accompanied by First Lady Ana Dias Lourenço, was welcomed by the Vice President, Bornito de Sousa, government officials and presidential aides.

Held under the motto “China and Africa, together towards an even stronger community with a shared future”, the forum was attended by over fifty dignitaries from African countries, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, the president of the African Union (AU), Paul Kagame, among other personalities.

João Lourenço participated for the first time in FOCAC in his capacity as Head of State.   

The summit adopted a declaration of principles that will guide the China-Africa co-operation and the 2019/2025 Action Plan.

The declaration also outlines actions in the areas of agriculture, food security, infrastructures development, human resources and technology transfer.

While in Beijing, President João Lourenço met with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, and the UN Secretary-General, António Guterres.
