Angola committed to peace and security in Africa
Lubango - The promotion of peace and security in Africa are priorities for Angola, whose authorities have been developing political and diplomatic efforts in the creation of solid premises for sustainable development, said last Wednesday in Lubango City, southern Huila Province, the National Defence minister, Salviano de Jesus Sequeira.

At the ministerial session of the 20th Meeting of the Angola/Namibia Security and Defence Joint Commission, Salviano de Jesus Sequeira highlighted that Angola has been following very closely and realistically the political phenomena in te Southern Africa Development Community (SADC), particularly in Lesotho, DR Congo and Zimbabwe, co-operating with the efforts of the international community.
He defended the need to safeguard the independence and security of the African states, having into account the risks and threats relating to terrorism and sea piracy that constitute real concerns for the international community.
He also stressed the need for joint work, including the boosting of information exchange, with a view to tackling situations like contraband, illegal immigration, human and drugs trafficking, pouching, theft of cattle and cars, among others.
On his turn, the Namibian Defence minister, Penda Ya Ndacolo, stressed that his country appreciates the existing co-operation between the two countries’ defence and security forces, adding that Namibia will continue to participate in joint military and humanitarian actions, among other bilateral exercises.
The 20th Meeting of the Angola/Namibia Security and Defence Joint Commission is debating issues like human and drugs trafficking, theft of cattle and cars, among others.
