MPLA party's Politburo elects secretariat members
Luanda - The Politburo of the ruling MPLA last Monday, in Luanda, elected its Secretariat, in sequence of the party's Sixth Extraordinary Congress held last Saturday.

The Congress elected João Lourenço as leader of the party with 98.5 per cent of the votes, Luísa Pedro Damião as vice president and Boavida Neto as secretary-general.
The Politburo elected Manuel Pedro Chaves as secretary for International Relations, Yolanda Gizela Ribeiro António dos Santos (sec. for Social policy), Jorge Inocêncio Dombolo (Organisation and Mobilisation), Paulo Pombolo (Information) and Diógenes de Oliveira (Administration and Finance).
The vice president of the party, Luísa Pedro Damião, is also responsible for the portfolio of Policy on Cadres.
Other members of the Politburo Secretariat are Salomão Loheto Xirimbimbi (Economic Policy), Mário Pinto de Andrade (Political and Electoral Matters), Pedro de Morais Neto (Former Combatants and Veterans of the Homeland), João de Almeida Martins (State Reform, Public Administration and Local Governments).
During the session, the organ approved the appointment of Américo António Cuononoca to be the party’s parliamentary whip, Emília Carlota Sebastião Celestino Dias as the First Deputy Speaker of the Parliament and Suzana Augusta de Melo as the Second Deputy Speaker.
The Politburo also approved the appointment of Adriano Meireles Patrocínio to the post of director of the office of the president of the MPLA.
