President of Italy visits Angola

Luanda - At the invitation of the President of the Republic of Angola, João Lourenço, the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, arrives in Luanda on Tuesday, February 5, for a state visit that will last until Thursday.

According to a note from the President's Office, the official program foresees a visit to the Presidential Palace on Wednesday morning for a private meeting with the Angolan Head of State, as well as press statements and an official lunch.

During the lunch, both the Italian President and his Angolan counterpart will deliver speeches on the state of bilateral relations.

On the same day - Wednesday, February 6, the visitor will go to the Divina Providência Hospital, Kilamba Kiaxi municipality, and hours later will be at the National Museum of Military History.

The day ends with a meeting that will bring together the Italian community established in Luanda. 

On the last day of his visit, on Thursday, President Sergio Mattarella will participate in the National Assembly of a special solemn session, during which he will have the opportunity to address, in a speech, to the deputies of the Nation.

Angola and Italy maintain relations of friendship and cooperation in various fields, such as international defense and security, collaboration in humanitarian and peacekeeping operations, demining and medical and medicine assistance.

Angola is now the third sub-Saharan African trading partner of Italy. In 2013, the total value of trade between the two countries amounted to 891 million Euros, with 348 million Euros made through Italian exports.
