Head of State leaves for Russia
Luanda - The Angolan Head State, João Lourenço, left the country's capital this Tuesday morning, en route for the Russian Federation, to participate in the first Russia-Africa Summit, in Sochi City, set to happen on the 23rd and 24th of the present month.

At Luanda’s 4 de Fevereiro International Airport, João Lourenço, accompanied by the First Lady, Ana Dias Lourenço, the Angolan President was seen off by the Vice President of the Republic, Bornito de Sousa, government officials and presidential aides.
According to a note from the President’s Institutional Communication and Press Affairs Office, the Head of State will address the opening session of the event (Wednesday, Oct 23), reserved for the speeches of the invited leaders.
On the next day, he has scheduled a formal meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin to assess the state of bilateral relations and make considerations on contemporary issues.
On the sidelines of the event, João Lourenço has audiences for influential figures of the political, social and economic universe of this European country, including officials from banks, industrial and agricultural companies and producers of precious minerals such as diamonds.
The agenda of the presidential mission to the Russian territory includes the signing of bilateral agreements in various fields, such as training of cadres and the implementation of a fertilizer industry in Angola.
Meawhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced that his country plans to provide Africa with "a significant amount of investment" over the next five years, but has demanded the creation of conditions to materialize business.
Vladimir Putin announced this during an interview with the Russian news agency TASS ahead of the Russia-Africa Summit, stating that "projects worth billions of dollars are currently being prepared and implemented with the participation of Russia."
According to Putin, there are many more initiatives on the cooperation agenda, underlining that the development and consolidation of mutually beneficial ties with African countries and their integration blocs is among the current priorities of the Russian foreign policy.
The summit aims to highlight the expansion of political, economic, technical and cultural cooperation between Africa and Russia.
