President João Lourenço returns to Luanda

Luanda - The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, returned to the country last Thursday, after attending the inauguration ceremony of Filipe Nyusi, who was elected last October president of Mozambique for a second term.

At the 4 de Fevereiro International Airport, in Luanda, the Angolan statesman was welcomed back by the Vice President, Bornito de Sousa, the governor of Luanda Province, Luther Rescova, members of the Executive, among other personalities.  

Filipe Nyusi’s inauguration – which took place in the Independence Square, in Maputo – was attended by ten African heads of State and roughly ten thousand people.

Realizada na Praça da Independência, a cerimónia de investidura de Filipe Nyusi, reeleito a 15 de Outubro, com 73 por cento dos votos, contou com a presença de 10 Chefes de Estado africanos e cerca de 10 mil pessoas.

Filipe Nyusi was re-elected with 73 per cent of the votes.

During his stay in that Indian Ocean country – in southeast Africa – the Angolan President held a meeting with his Portuguese counterpart, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, who also attended the swearing-in ceremony.

In the meeting, the two statesmen agreed on the need to have the bilateral relations strengthened.  

Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, also the leader of Frelimo party, was born on February 09, 1959, in Namau, Mueda District of Cabo Delgado Province.
