Over 12,000 kilometres of road repaired

Luanda - At least 12,400 kilometres of the basic road network have been repaired in the country since 2005, the director general of the Angola Roads Institute (INEA), António Resende, said.

Addressing a workshop on works and their stages in the construction sector, António Resende said another 7,800 kilometres of road are currently being repaired.


He stated that 5,600 kilometres of road are left for the global consolidation of the 26,000 quilometres basic network.


The official added that under the road infrastructure rehabilitation programme, 233 bridges have been installed, and another 327 are underway.

According to him, there is a total of 900 bridges and small bridges awaiting repair around the country.

He said metallic bridges are being installed as emergencies.
