This was said Wednesday in Luanda by the national director of public infrastructure, José Paulo Kai.

The official was speaking to journalists at the end of a visit to the Luanda’s  municipalities of Viana and Belas.

He said that in its first phase, the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) will ease road traffic congestion in the above localities as there will be no road intersections.

According to José Kai, the road infrastructure is being built over a distance of 12 kilometres and is part of the North/South Corridor under the Luanda Metropolitan Master Plan (PDGML).

The official added that 11 stations will be built along the 12-kilometre road where passengers will buy their tickets to board the buses.

The director said the construction of the road with three lanes on each direction has reached 19 percent of completion. The construction works started in October 2014 and are expected finished in October 2017.
