Angola: Construction minister lauds staff's commitment

Luanda - The Construction and Public Works minister, Manuel Tavares de Almeida, addressed a commendation message to the professionals of his sector by the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Angolan Day of Constructor.

According to a press note that reached Angop on Saturday, the official stated in his message that after 40 years, the professionals of this sector are foreseeing a different context and environment in the country, enabling them to expect for better times to come.

The document also recalls the government’s strategy in this 2017 term, which points out a new version for this sector, with highlights to re-establishment of competences attributed to this Ministry regarding public works in the country.

The message also mentions a greater interaction with all entities tasked for the designation, projects of public construction works, through its intervention in the approval and certification of works undertaken.

The minister also pledged to do everything for the development of this Ministry, its due competences, through upgrading its structures and technical means of management and working environment to reach these targets, reads the note.

The Day of Constructor was instituted by the first and late Angolan president, António Agostinho Neto, on December 3, 1977.
