The Cabinet official made the remarks in his opening address to the 1st Consultative Council and the meeting of the Builder's Day, which took place under the motto "Construction and public works - Current situation and challenges".
Manuel Tavares stressed that measures will be implemented to recover the role and responsibility of the Ministry, as a state agency, promoting and regulating the country's construction and public works activities.
The minister added that some activities and responsibilities will be decentralized so that they can be assumed, at the level of the provinces and municipalities, with due interventions in the works in good time.
"It will be a gradual process and we will start with the activities of construction, conservation and maintenance of secondary and tertiary roads in the best organized municipalities," he said.
It is necessary, he said, that interventions for the conservation and maintenance of roads and related works are effective, as well as the stagnation of ravines with immediate interventions and by local decision.
